Who we are
We in Citizens Climate Europe, are a group of motivated volunteers who believe in engaging with EU democratic institutions to make lasting change to solve the climate crisis.
We are focused on what we see as the single most impactful solution to climate change. We know it will not solve the problem entirely, and appreciate the work that our friends in other groups are doing.
Our solution to climate change is through democracy building on existing national economies and international agreements. Our approach is evidence based and we educate citizens to communicate and build positive relationships with politicians and legislators.

Our Values
Citizens’ Climate Lobby is a non-profit, nonpartisan, grassroots advocacy organization focused on national policies to address climate change. These core values guide our staff and volunteers along the way:
Focus
We are focused on what we see as the single most impactful solution to climate change and do not let ourselves get distracted by other work
Optimism
We believe that people are good, and that democracy works. We are confident that our approach will work because we see progress
Relationships
We take the most generous approach to other people as possible — appreciation, gratitude, and respect
Integrity
We are open to new information, and solicit opposing opinions. We refine our solutions to make them better
Personal Power
We use our voices to be heard. This simple act transforms us from spectators to engaged citizens
Non-partisan
You are welcome no matter who you are because we believe that everyone is a potential ally
Diversity
We empower everyone regardless of race, ethnicity, nationality, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, religion, ability, socio-economic factors or political affiliation
Local Groups
In Europe there are about 2000 members in established active groups in 10 different countries, with a further 6 European countries in the process of starting groups.
The local groups have meetings with politicians from the City Councils, local and national governments. We also meet researchers, journalists, civil society, unions and other groups. There is a wide range of activity covering: workshops, presentations, conference networking, letter writing, event stands, policy submissions as well as all the less visible internal processes to organise and learn collectively.
EU Action Team
Since 2018 groups from different European countries have collaborated with the goal of implementing Climate Income at the EU level.
Representatives from various CCL groups in the EU were in Brussels in 2019 to meet EU parliamentarians just before the launch of the EU Green Deal. Then again in February 2020, and since then we have continued to meet politicians and legislators online. In the first year, we have held over 70 meetings, mostly with EU parliamentary offices and Executive offices. Our focus is on individuals and groups active on policy relating to the climate and specifically Climate Income.

The International Organisation
The organisation Citizens' Climate Lobby, CCL, was founded in the USA in 2007 and now has over 200,000 members word-wide with over 600 groups in 60 countries. CCL is a non-profit, non-partisan grassroots organisation with a focus on policies to combat climate change.
For historical reasons the majority of the membership and activity since creation has been in North America. In recent years the international spread has accelerated with the growing concern about the climate crisis and the need for political solutions with international cooperation.
The organisation has achieved the Guidestar Gold Seal of Transparency 2020 which provides confidence in how money is used within our organisation. Something our European office is committed to uphold. If you would like to contribute towards our work you can donate here:
